Trabzonspor confirmed on Tuesday that Fatih Tekke has left his post as head coach, with both parties agreeing to part ways after a run of poor results.

In an official statement on the club's X account, Trabzonspor said vice-president Serkan Kılıç met Tekke to discuss the team's current situation and its future. The two sides then agreed to end their cooperation in line with the club's interests and objectives.

Home to Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Trabzonspor praised the work Tekke put in across roughly 18 months in charge. They pointed to his role in developing new signings, the sporting and financial gains he delivered, and the Turkish Cup he lifted with the team.

Both parties shared the conviction that a new road map was needed, the club added. Tekke had stressed he did not want his presence to harm Trabzonspor, insisting the club's interest came above everything else.

Trabzonspor thanked their former coach for his efforts, his dedication, his successes and the value he added, and wished him well in the next chapter of his career.

The decision followed Monday's 2-1 defeat to Amedspor in the Turkish league.

That loss capped a brutal week. Days earlier, Ferencváros thrashed Trabzonspor 4-0 in the second leg of the Europa League play-off round, knocking them out of the competition.

Tekke had offered his resignation after the European defeat. The board rejected it at first and confirmed he would stay on, only for everything to shift once Amedspor won, paving the way to a formal agreement to end his tenure.

Tekke, 48, took charge of Trabzonspor in March 2025. Last season he guided the club to third in the Turkish league on 69 points and lifted the Turkish Cup.
