Official: Kenan Yildiz has surgery for fracture, out for 2-3 months

Kenan Yildiz has undergone surgery for a fractured metatarsal in his left foot, confirmed Juventus, and is expected to be out for two to three months, while Jeff Ekhator also has a new injury.

The news was expected over the last week, when he sustained the injury during the opening round of the Serie A season against Frosinone.

It became immediately apparent that he would need to go under the knife to correct the fracture, and that it would be a long spell on the sidelines.

Although the length of his absence is not mentioned in the statement, it is expected to be around two to three months until we see Yildiz on the pitch again.

A statement released by Juventus confirmed Kenan Yildiz underwent surgery to fix a fracture at the base of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot.

It was performed at the Augsburg Hessingpark Klinik by Dr Martin Jordan in the presence of the club doctor, Dr Marco Freschi.

Yildiz will begin the rehabilitation programme over the next 24-48 hours.

It was not the only bad news for Juventus, because Jeff Ekhator also underwent scans that showed a moderate-grade injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his right thigh.

This is another setback on top of the one he had straight after completing the transfer from Genoa, and more tests are required in two weeks’ time to “determine the exact recovery timeframe.”

Here too the time on the touchline is expected to be two months.
