Martin Odegaard could come face to face with Bernardo Silva again tonight, just seven days after the challenge which left the Arsenal captain furious and nursing an ankle problem.

Norway travel to Portugal for their UEFA Nations League meeting in Porto at 7.45pm UK time, with Odegaard having already shown that last weekend’s scare has not kept him out of action.

The midfielder recovered sufficiently to start Norway’s 2-1 defeat against Wales on Thursday and provided the assist for Oscar Bobb’s opening goal.

Odegaard has already recovered from ankle scare

The quick recovery is excellent news for Arsenal after Odegaard reacted angrily to Silva’s late challenge during Portugal’s 2-1 victory in Oslo last Sunday.

There had initially been concern over the Arsenal captain’s ankle, particularly after he was seen limping following the match.

However, his involvement against Wales means attention can now turn from his fitness to an intriguing reunion with the man responsible for the challenge.

According to The Standard, Odegaard’s quick return puts him on course to face Silva again when the two countries meet tonight.

Another fiery meeting in Porto?

There was certainly little sign of reconciliation immediately after last week’s incident.

We also covered Silva’s response when questioned about the challenge, which did little to calm the situation.

Whether there is any lingering tension tonight remains to be seen, but both players will have considerably more important matters to concentrate on.

Norway have now suffered consecutive Nations League defeats, while Portugal head into the game top of the group after winning their opening three matches.

For Arsenal supporters, the priority will simply be seeing Odegaard come through another international fixture without any further problems.

But after everything that happened in Oslo only a week ago, his potential next meeting with Silva will certainly be worth watching.
