NFL star celebrates comeback after more than two and a half years! Los Angeles Rams thrash New York Giants

After more than two and a half years out, NFL star Aaron Donald has made his comeback and sent out an initial signal with the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams' defence gave the New York Giants no chance in a 28-6 win on Monday night, and the team built around the exceptional defender put their botched start to the season in Australia behind them in front of their home crowd.

Defensive tackle Donald had ended his career after the Rams' playoff exit in the 2023/24 season, but decided to return this year and was still absent for the opening game in Melbourne against the San Francisco 49ers (7-27). Against the Giants, the 35-year-old made three tackles for title contenders LA.

At quarterback, Matthew Stafford threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns, finding wide receiver Davante Adams twice. Stafford, the most valuable player (MVP) of last season, moved past Philip Rivers (425) with what is now 427 touchdown passes on the NFL's all-time list and climbed to sixth place. Only Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571), Peyton Manning (539), Aaron Rodgers (528) and Brett Favre (508) have been more successful.

New York lost Jaxson Dart early, with the quarterback unable to continue because of an injury to his left knee. According to media reports, it is a medial ligament strain. Replacement Jameis Winston could not get the offence going.

Dart is the next in a long line of quarterbacks to be hit in the first two weeks of the new season. Sam Darnold of Super Bowl champions the Seattle Seahawks, Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears) and Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders) are also currently sidelined.
