Sergio Navarro has explained that Jovan Kirovski, the head of the Milan Futuro project, played a big part in his decision to accept the job in the summer.

Kirovski has been a divisive figure in the Milan academy, to say the least. He was brought in on the recommendation of Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in the summer of 2024 to lead the Milan Futuro project. However, it was an uphill start with the relegation to Serie D, resulting in a lot of criticism.

Since then, it would be fair to say that Kirovski has improved in his role, even if there are still some doubts to eliminate moving forward. As it turns out, he was one of the main reasons why the current Futuro coach Navarro decided to accept the gig.

Navarro praises Kirovski’s approach

In his interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, which we published in full yesterday, Navarro was asked about the Milan challenge and why he said yes to the challenge. Kirovski’s words, more so than the history of the club, decided the matter.

“In the spring, Kirovski called me and I was really impressed. We didn’t know each other, but he said what I say.

“Instead of talking about victories and money, like everyone else does, he explained: ‘I need a sensitive coach.’ It wasn’t AC Milan’s prestige that won me over, but his sensitivity,” he said.

We would highly recommend reading the entire interview as Navarro had some very interesting thoughts to share.
