More than just a goal: Ronaldo ascends the historic throne of Al-Nassr in the Roshan League
The Portuguese star returned to write a new chapter in history
Cristiano Ronaldo has climbed to the top of Al-Nassr's scoring charts in the Saudi Roshn League, and it was his goal against Al-Riyadh that got him there.
The Portugal captain's side thumped hosts Al-Riyadh 4-0 on Friday at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in the Saudi capital, in the second round of the Roshn League.
Ronaldo needed just 21 minutes off the bench to open his account for the season. His strike, Al-Nassr's fourth of the night, came in the 83rd minute. Ayman Yahya whipped in a low cross and Ronaldo turned it home with his left foot.
According to Thmanyah channels, the goal drew "the Don" level with club legend Mohammed Al-Sahlawi as Al-Nassr's all-time top scorer in the Saudi Roshn League in the professional era.
Both men have now scored 103 goals in the Saudi League in the professional era. Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah sits third on 77.
One more goal is all the "Madeira Rocket" needs to claim the record outright, and he'll have the chance in the coming rounds.
