Mika Godts scores a brilliant goal for Belgium and puts Van Bommel ahead

Mika Godts has scored his first goal for Belgium. The Paris Saint-Germain forward opened the scoring in the Nations League clash with Italy.

Godts completed a €45 million move from Ajax to PSG this summer. The 21-year-old forward has mostly had to settle for substitute appearances in the French capital.

New head coach Mark van Bommel still handed him a start against Italy. That marks a sharp contrast with Van Bommel's predecessor, Rudi García, who did not even include Godts in the World Cup squad.

He repaid Van Bommel's faith straight away. After less than half an hour, Godts picked up the ball on the left, cut inside and sent two Italians the wrong way before calmly slotting home for 0-1.

This is only Godts' third international against Italy. He had previously played two friendlies for the Red Devils.
