Middlesbrough are pushing to sign Rangers midfielder Connor Barron on loan with an option to buy, but face a race against time to complete the deal before the transfer deadline.
The Championship side have made a late move for the 24-year-old, who has been given permission by Rangers to explore an exit.
Barron has found his opportunities limited at Ibrox under new boss Derek McInnes and a move to Middlesbrough has emerged as a possibility late in the window.
Middlesbrough are keen to take Barron on a season-long loan and are working to include an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.
The Scotland international has attracted interest from several clubs this summer, including Sevilla and West Ham.
