Mazzarri attacked in Greece: “He refused to shake my hand, he was smoking and complaining. He means nothing to me”

Walter Mazzarri isn't making many friends in his spell in Greece. The new Iraklis manager in Thessaloniki has taken five points from his first four league matches and sits stuck in mid-table, but he has already drawn attention for behaviour close to the line. A couple of weeks ago he was sent off and then pictured smoking his electronic cigarette from the stands.

A fresh controversy has now surfaced, this time raised by the Atromitos manager after the sides had just played out a 1-1 draw.

Atromitos boss in Athens, Dusan Kerkez, launched a fierce attack on the former Inter and Napoli man.

"The Iraklis coach, I do not want to say his name, was a good coach. But he is not an example for us young people. He is different from Mendilibar (former Olympiacos manager, ed.). He did not know English either, but he was a gentleman and always behaved with respect. I first went to shake his hand but he did not give me his, as if I were a gypsy. He shouted at the referee for the whole match instead of setting a good example at the age of 65. Did he start smoking on the bench? You cannot smoke in restaurants any more and he can on the bench. How can they not see it? I respect Iraklis, who are a historic team, but for my part I have no respect for him at all. He may even have won ten trophies, but to me he is a complete zero".
