Manchester United have officially released their squad numbers for the 2026/27 season, with Marcus Rashford handed the No.9.

In less than two hours, the Red Devils will begin their campaign with an away Premier League fixture in Hull. The contest will take place at the MKM Stadium, and it kicks off at 12:30 UK time.

Therefore, Man Utd decided to unveil their squad numbers on Saturday morning.

While the majority of the numbers remain intact, Shea Lacey will don the No.31 as he prepares to play a more prominent role this season.

Several other youngsters were also named in the 32-man list, including the Fletcher twins, with Jack getting the 38 and Tyler the 39.

Harry Amass has been handed the No.41 and Toby Collyer the No.43, but they have both been tipped to leave the club before the transfer deadline.

Speaking of youngsters, 15-year-old wonderkid JJ Gabriel was added to the list with the No.77. The teenager made his appearance for the first team in the friendly win over Atletico Madrid, and his inclusion on the list suggests he could make his competitive first-team debut at some point during the season, albeit he’ll feature more prominently for Man Utd U21.

Marcus Rashford is Man Utd’s new No.9

When the list first came out, all eyes were on Marcus Rashford, with the fans eager to learn his squad number.

Prior to his departure in January 2025, the 28-year-old was the club’s No.10, but this number now belongs to Matheus Cunha.

Therefore, the England international has been handed the No.9 shirt last donned by Rasmus Hojlund. Previous reports suggested Benjamin Sesko could inherit this prestigious shirt, but the Slovenian is apparently happy with his current No.30

Rashford already wore the No.9 in last weekend’s friendly against AC Milan, but at the time, the club insisted that all numbers were still provisional.

Some might argue that handing an important number to the Manchester native is a further sign of him staying at the club beyond the transfer deadline.

Rashford was only willing to entertain offers from elite clubs, and amid the lack of interest, he appears destined to dwell at Carrington.
