Man City Women - September Schedule
Man City Women begin the defence of the WSL title with a home game against Birmingham City. Birmingham won the WSL2 title last season, beating Crystal Palace to top spot on goal difference. A potentially tricky game for City, but I expect the Blues to begin their title defence in winning style.
Following on from that, City travel to face Aston Villa. Villa only won five of their 22 WSL games last season and while they've got players who can cause the Blues problems, it's difficult to look past another Man City victory.
Man City then return to the Joie Stadium to face Liverpool, who endured a poor season last time out. Liverpool finished second-bottom of the WSL table, picking up just 17 points from their 22 games. While I'm expecting a better return in the 26/27 from this Liverpool side, they're a side City should comfortably see off.
The Blues then end September with an away trip to Charlton Athletic. Charlton earned promotion via the WSL2 playoffs on penalties (you might remember the incredible performance of Charlton goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse in the shootout!)
A reasonably comfortable start, then, for the WSL Champions. If Man City can win all four of their opening games, this will put them in good stead before their almighty clash against Arsenal in the first week of October.
