Maignan and Rabiot play full game as France beat Turkey – how they rated

Last night, France beat Turkey to give Zinedine Zidane a perfect start as the new national team head coach. Now, the ratings for AC Milan’s representatives have been looked at.

Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot were key figures under the previous management of Les Bleus and under Zidane, that was unlikely to change, especially not in his first international camp. After the end of their World Cup campaign, a response was needed and a win against Turkey is certainly a start.

Maignan impresses, Rabiot less so

First, the ratings from L’Equipe, as provided by @ActuFoot_ on X. Maignan scored a seven, whilst the midfielder was given a six. It’s worth noting that these were the two highest ratings given out – there were a few other sixes – and the goalkeeper was named the Man of the Match by the French paper.

Moving to Eurosport, the outlet gave Maignan a slightly lower score of a 6.5 for a ‘consistent game’ With several solid saves, one could argue that the rating is slightly harsh, but a small error from a corner was deemed enough for the mark down. Yet, he was still given the MOTM award.

Rabiot, on the other hand, was given a downgrade to a five, with the report noting his limited activity. He was ‘more discreet’ and made more errors than usual…

Finally, RMC Sport’s ratings are relayed by MilanNews, where Maignan was again praised heavily. The goalkeeper was given an eight, thanks to several key saves in the second half at vital moments.
