Lukas Fadinger transfer intrigue emerges amid Celtic midfield search

The 25-year-old Austrian has enjoyed an impressive start to the season at Fir Park, scoring three goals in seven appearances and earning Motherwell’s Player of the Month award for July.

His performances have now reportedly attracted attention from elsewhere, including an unnamed Scottish Premiership club.

Transfer journalist Rudy Galetti claims a Premiership side has requested information on Fadinger, with clubs in England also showing an interest.

He wrote: “A Scottish Premiership club & English sides requested info on Lukas Fadinger after his strong start at Motherwell: 3 goals in 7 games this season, including the armband vs HJK.”

There is no suggestion from Galetti that the unnamed Scottish club is Celtic, so any connection to the Hoops remains speculative at this stage.

However, the timing will inevitably generate some intrigue among supporters following Arne Engels’ £22million departure to West Ham United.

Martin O’Neill has already indicated that Celtic will look to strengthen their midfield options following the Belgian’s exit, while Fadinger’s early-season form means his situation could be one to watch before the transfer window closes.
