Liverpool Weigh Move for Estevao After Chelsea Rebuff

Chelsea have told Liverpool that Estevao is not for sale, according to reports, with the Reds said to be weighing up whether to make a move in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have made contact with Chelsea over a potential move for Estevao, according to journalist Francois Plateau, but were told that the Brazilian is not for sale.

Plateau described the contact as a loose enquiry rather than a formal bid. It is reported that Liverpool are weighing up a move that would test Chelsea’s resolve over their position.

Liverpool’s search for attacking options

Liverpool are looking for a potential replacement for Cody Gakpo, who appeared to be closing in on a move to Manchester City. Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr has also emerged as a possibility, although the Eagles are not expected to let him leave easily.

Estevao is among the other potential targets Liverpool have explored, but Chelsea’s reported response makes clear that there is currently no indication the club are willing to sell him.

Estevao’s season so far

Estevao has been a bright spark for Chelsea despite injury issues. Last season, the 19-year-old scored eight goals and provided four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

A hamstring injury disrupted the second half of his season and ruled him out of Brazil’s squad for this summer’s World Cup. He returned in time to feature in pre-season ahead of the new campaign.

So far this season, Estevao has made two appearances. He came off the bench in the opening game against Fulham and played 80 minutes in the League Cup win over Luton Town. He was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 4-3 Premier League win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Hazard urges patience

Eden Hazard has said Chelsea should give Estevao time to settle into English football. The former Chelsea player noted the teenager’s age, his encouraging first season and his natural quality on the ball, including flair and pace.

Hazard also expressed hope that Estevao would return stronger after missing the World Cup because of injury.
