Line-up for the European Super Cup: Dembélé on the Paris bench and the new signing leads the attack

Enrique and Emery reveal their cards

Luis Enrique and Unai Emery, the Spanish coaches of Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa, have named their line-ups ahead of Wednesday evening's eagerly awaited 2026-2027 UEFA Super Cup final.

Paris Saint-Germain arrive chasing another piece of silverware, having lifted the Champions League last season and retained the Super Cup. Aston Villa, meanwhile, want to extend a historic campaign and claim the trophy for the second time in their history, after their triumph in the 1982 edition.

Luis Enrique hands Akliouche his first start

Enrique has gone with a 4-3-3, Matvey Safonov guarding the goal behind a back four of Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho and Nuno Mendes.

Vitinha starts in midfield alongside Warren Zaïre-Emery and João Neves. Up front, Akliouche makes his first appearance since joining this summer, taking the right flank, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the left and Doué through the middle.

Ousmane Dembélé, crowned Ballon d'Or winner last year, drops to the substitutes' bench.

Speaking at Tuesday's press conference, Enrique complained about the lack of readiness among most of his players, who returned late from their summer break after featuring at the 2026 World Cup.

Emery relies on a 4-4-2

Unai Emery has picked a traditional 4-4-2. Bizot starts in goal with Emiliano Martínez absent, protected by the central pairing of Pau Torres and Lindelöf, and Matty Cash and Ian Maatsen at full-back.

Kamara partners João Gomes in the middle, while McGinn and Hemmings take the wings and Buendía and Madjo lead the line.
