Landon Emenalo deal edges closer, Jude Bonnar heading to Arbroath
There won’t be an option to buy included but the promising youngster will get significant game-time at Celtic as he rotates with established Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.
Just like last season Martin O’Neill will be monitoring KT’s fitness on an ongoing basis and will restrict his minutes throughout the season to provide the former Arsenal defender with as many significant minutes as possible.
Marcelo Saracchi played that role magnificently last season but Celtic were unable to conclude a satisfactory deal to bring the Uruguayan left-back back to the club on a permanent contract.
Greg Taylor’s situation at PAOK was closely monitored with the player admitting that he was open to a return to Celtic one year after leaving the club to challenge himself abroad. In the end Celtic decided against a reunion with the former Kilmarnock man who spend six successful seasons at Celtic and was an influential player in the dressing room.
Instead it seems that Martin O’Neill has opted to bring in Landon Emenalo, who recently had a tour of Lennoxtown when meeting the Celtic officials. The player, who can also operate in midfield, is said to be carrying a slight injury that needs a few days to clear up.
Then unless anything changes he will sign for Celtic for the season on a loan deal from Chelsea.
Meanwhile Celtic look set to send young Jude Bonnar out to Arbroath on a season long loan. The 20-year-old midfielder is expected to make another Scottish Championship move after spending last season with Ayr United.
Bonnar made 30 appearances for Ayr and received plenty of praise from former Celtic captain Scott Brown, who brought him to the club.
The Celtic player has trained with Arbroath this week and is expected to complete the move at Gayfield shortly.
Celtic has also concluded a Cooperation Agreement with Dumbarton with two Academy players heading out to The Rock to be welcomed by Celtic and Dumbarton legend Murdo MacLeod. Owen Hartington and Aidan Rice are the two Celts who have joined Dumbarton under this agreement.
