"Neurological disorder"

Bayern Munich have broken their silence on the worrying health condition of their star Jamal Musiala, after coach Vincent Kompany revealed the real reason behind the player collapsing twice during the recent friendly matches.

According to Kompany, a slight change in the player's treatment plan triggered the crisis. He then explained the precise medical condition affecting the Bavarian side's playmaker.

Musiala, 23, had stated earlier this week that he was receiving treatment for a "neurological disorder" that causes "temporary, short, but easily treatable" episodes.

Bayern Munich confirmed the indicators had shown up before the World Cup, and the club knew of them before last season began. So far, they have not affected his performance in official matches.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's German Super Cup clash against Borussia Dortmund, Kompany explained the details of what happened, saying: "I spoke with Jamal, and he said: no problem, you can say that."

The Belgian coach added: "He made a slight adjustment to his treatment, which caused some side effects. It is entirely normal to make changes to a treatment plan. It was the reason he collapsed twice within four days against Leipzig and Heidenheim."

Kompany moved to reassure the fans: "The initial shock for us was a long time ago, so we do not talk about it much at the moment. We have received much more information since then, and we made the decisions with the help of leading experts. Jamal has everyone's support."
