Jota will not make his injury comeback for Celtic tomorrow, despite online speculation. The 27-year-old has been injured since Celtic’s title win up at Tannadice in Brendan Rodgers’ second season.

A lot has happened at the club since then, Rodgers’ departure the following season along with Wilfried Nancy’s disastrous spell and then Martin O’Neill’s sensational return to Paradise. In that time, Jota has been working back from an ACL injury.

The Superstar from Portugal has been working over in Lisbon, building on from a subsequent setback and is back in Glasgow, training as he looks to return to fitness.

Despite online rumours this evening, Jota will not be in contention to feature for Celtic in the game against Aberdeen. Celtic Shorts understands that the winger will not be rushed back from injury and will not be back in contention until after the international break in October.

The attacker is progressing well and is continuing working towards a return but the club are reluctant to take a risk on his fitness at this stage.

Jota’s return will be a special moment for the players and the fans. The winger has been sidelined for an extensive period of time, which will have no doubt have had a psychological impact on him. For the support, he is a game changer so it’s no surprise that folk are chomping at the bit to get him back.
