Jordan Lotomba just reminded fans why Celtic have signed him

New Celtic signing Jordan Lotomba has just reminded fans why he was snapped up from Feyenoord ahead of the UEFA squad deadline.

Lotomba, who is a right-back, arrived on a deal until the end of the season, but the move is technically a permanent one, with the Bhoys believed to have paid a small fee plus the promise of performance-related add-ons.

There has been some confusion over the deal, though, with Alistair Johnston due back as soon as October, and with two other right-backs already at the club in Colby Donovan and Anthony Ralston, it is now a very well-stocked position, perhaps even overstocked.

But Celtic saw the opportunity to add more European experience to their ranks, which could be very useful this season, with the Hoops playing Europa League football.

The Hoops showed their inexperience in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier with LASK, so players with such experience are going to help in tough games like Benfica, Marseille and others.

“I’ve had the opportunity to play in different countries and different leagues, as well as in the Champions League and the Europa League," Lotomba reminded on Celtic TV.

“Playing at the highest level over a number of years, and becoming more mature as a player, has taught me a lot and made me feel increasingly comfortable on the pitch.

“It was a great experience, and I’m very proud to have won those titles in Switzerland. That success also helped me earn the opportunity to move abroad.”

The right-back added: “I know Celtic have the same mentality and are always competing to win titles and finish first.

“I think we share that same winning mentality, and that’s something I really like. My ambitions are to be at the top of the league, win as many matches as possible, and win trophies, because I’m a very competitive person."
