In video: Firas Al-Buraikan embarrasses Abdullah Al-Hamdan with a goal from the first attack

Firas Al-Buraikan left his teammate Abdullah Al-Hamdan looking rather foolish. The Al-Ahli and Saudi Arabia striker struck from the very first attack in the Arabian Gulf Cup "Gulf 27", showing up the Al-Nassr player in the process.

Saudi Arabia met Oman on Saturday at the Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah, in the second round of the group stage of the Gulf tournament.

The Saudis opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Al-Buraikan, who headed home a cross from Saleh Abu Al-Shamat.

It was the first goal Saudi Arabia had scored themselves in the tournament. Their only goal against Kuwait in the previous match had come from an own goal by Kuwait defender Youssef Al-Haqan.

One real attack was all Al-Buraikan needed to find the net in "Gulf 27". He had managed only a few minutes as a substitute against Kuwait, failing to score or trouble the goal.

That strike piled the pressure on Al-Hamdan, who had toiled through the Kuwait match and squandered more than one chance in front of goal.

Widespread criticism followed those displays. Saudi Arabia's Greek head coach Georgios Donis dropped Al-Hamdan from the starting line-up against Oman and handed Al-Buraikan his place.
