Al-Ittihad have climbed to the top of the Saudi Roshn League, at least for now, after brushing aside hosts Al-Fayha in a game lit up by Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

The Tigers won 3-1 at the Al-Majmaah Sports City Stadium on Friday in the seventh round of the Roshn League.

Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn broke the deadlock on 28 minutes. He collected a pass from Colombian midfielder Richard Rios and lashed a powerful strike from outside the box into the net.

En-Nesyri doubled the lead two minutes before the break, turning home an excellent low cross from Nigerian teammate George Ilenikhena in front of goal.

The Moroccan wasn't done. He grabbed his second and Al-Ittihad's third on 59 minutes, again finishing off a delivery from Ilenikhena.

Congolese forward Theo Bongonda pulled one back for Al-Fayha on 87 minutes, drilling a fierce effort from outside the area that Serbian goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic couldn't keep out.

That result made it three wins in a row for Al-Ittihad, and five in seven, alongside two draws and no defeats in the Saudi League this season.

The Tigers now sit top of the Roshn League on 17 points, one clear of Al-Qadsiah in second and two ahead of Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, who have a game in hand.

Al-Fayha, meanwhile, slumped to a fourth defeat of the campaign to go with three draws. They prop up all but the bottom of the table in 17th, second from last, with just three points.
