How to watch, time, and more of Gotham FC’s possible trap game with Angel City
NJ/NY Gotham FC will aim to continue their current winning streak, which sits at three, this weekend when they play against Angel City FC. The California team recently beat the Washington Spirit, giving the Bats a gift before their matchup. But with five wins out of their last six, the visitors could make things dangerous for the home team.
As such, this could end up as a trap game for Gotham FC. In other words, while Gotham FC is still considered the stronger team on paper and, of course, in the standings, Angel City’s recent form could easily lead the NJ/NY side to a draw or loss. Plus, they might have the previous meeting in the back of their minds and believe that they should win this time. Instead, they need to treat the match like a playoff game. And truthfully, these two teams could meet in the 2026 postseason.
Nevertheless, the expectation is that Gotham should win, especially at home. It would be great if they could extend the lead in the NWSL Shield race. There is a major concern, though, as the team prepares for the match. During the week, Jordynn Dudley suffered an injury in training, subsequently removing her from the USWNT U-23 team for the upcoming international window. Juan Carlos Amorós revealed that he will provide more information during Saturday’s press conference.
If it is a serious injury as feared, then that would be a shame for the rookie. She played extremely well over the last month and was finally scoring goals again, too. Sure, Gotham FC has the talent in the attack, for Midge Purce would just move up from the defense. But losing Dudley would still be a loss.

Final notes
Gotham FC cannot seem to shake the weather at home. Last week, while they avoided the rain, they still had the early part of the nor’easter wind. On Sunday, it is supposed to rain, so it will not be the best day for a game. But the matchup alone will hopefully get fans in the seats.
