How to watch Gotham FC and Portland Thorns FC as Bats seek a new record
Last week, NJ/NY Gotham FC tied their club-record unbeaten streak in the NWSL after the Bats shared the points with Angel City FC. This extended their unbeaten streak to nine games, and now they will try to break the club record with ten. It will not be easy, though, as Portland Thorns FC is coming to town. They will meet on Pride Night in what will be a first-place vs third-place battle.
In the last game when the teams met last month, the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Since then, the Thorns have won their last three of four. And of course, Gotham FC won four in a row before drawing with Angel City. So, while the winning streak came to an end, the unbeaten run is still alive. The NJ/NY side will need to at least earn a point to break the club record and go ten matches without losing.
But again, Portland is not an easy team to face. This was seen in their previous meeting. And knowing Gotham, they will want to win. The defense is fantastic, but if they are having one of those games where they cannot be clinical enough to score, all it could take is one mistake for them to lose. If they take more risks to score, then that could happen.
Meanwhile, during the last nine-game unbeaten streak, Gotham FC had seven wins and two draws. That is the same as their current one. The difference is that the Washington Spirit ended their streak last time. This time, Portland has that chance, so hopefully the Bats will find a way to break the record. More importantly, hopefully, they will win.

Final notes
Since they did not play an NWSL game in June, Gotham FC will host their Pride Night. As always, there will be the usual fan fest. But then, there will be drag queens, including Jan Sport, who will sing the national anthem. Also, USWNT legends Tobin Heath and Christen Press will light the torch before the match.
