Heracles pull clear in the KKD thanks to N'djoli's 11th goal; NAC close the gap
Heracles Almelo did excellent business in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie on Saturday. The leaders beat Vitesse convincingly 2-0 and took full advantage of Almere City FC's defeat a day earlier. MVV Maastricht, Roda JC, NAC Breda and FC Emmen also kept all three points at home on Saturday.
Heracles Almelo - Vitesse 2-0
Heracles made the most of second-placed Almere City's defeat at FC Dordrecht on Friday. Top scorer Jean-Paul N'Djoli opened the scoring after 11 minutes from a rehearsed corner and grabbed his eleventh league goal of the season. An own goal from Vitesse defender Omar Achouitar made it 2-0 before half-time. Vitesse started the second half better but never seriously threatened the Heracles goal.
MVV Maastricht - Helmond Sport 2-0
After three matches without a win, MVV bounced back by beating Helmond Sport 2-0. The visitors held firm in Maastricht before the break, but Olivier Dumont broke the deadlock shortly after the restart with his fifth goal of the season. Elias Sierra ended any doubt in the closing stages and helped MVV onto sixteen points.
Roda JC - RKC Waalwijk 2-0
Roda JC kept their strong run going with a 2-0 win over RKC Waalwijk. Bram Marsman emphatically finished a fine cross from Jérôme Déom early on, then Cain Seedorf started a move himself in the second half and eventually headed home to wrap it up. It was Seedorf's first goal since October last year and Roda are now unbeaten since the second matchday.
NAC Breda - FC Eindhoven 4-2
NAC Breda looked set for a comfortable win over FC Eindhoven for a long time, but had to dig deep in the end for a 4-2 victory. Charles-Andreas Brym headed in a free-kick from Mohamed Nassoh after just four minutes and Moussa Soumano doubled the lead after an hour. Niek Munsters and Guus Beaumont then dragged Eindhoven level. In the closing stages, Mohamed Bouchouari put NAC back in front, after which the home side settled the match definitively with the 4-2.
FC Emmen - TOP Oss 1-0
FC Emmen only needed one goal against TOP Oss. Seventeen-year-old Chiel Sunder was handed his first start of the season and repaid that faith after about half an hour by turning in the 1-0 from the rebound. TOP Oss had nothing more to offer after that, as Emmen recorded their fifth win of the season.
FC Volendam - VVV-Venlo 3-2
Most of the entertainment came at FC Volendam against VVV-Venlo. Henk Veerman gave the home side the lead as early as the fifth minute with his ninth league goal, then Volendam struck again soon after following a fine move involving Younes Jaber el Meftahi. Éanna Clancy pulled VVV back into the game with a wonderful long-range strike, but Reuven Niemeijer restored the two-goal margin before half-time. Gino Schmidt made it tense again ten minutes from time, but Volendam held on for 3-2.
