Haissem Hassan a breath of fresh air in Celtic’s Bairns win…

New Celtic signing Haissem Hassan made his first start for the club in the 2-1 win over Falkirk, and made a great impression on the Hoops supporters, due to his dazzling performance, leading to much deserved standing ovation when he was withdrawn midway through the second period.

It’s been some time since we witnessed a wide man in a Celtic shirt not only take on his opponent and beat them, but deliver an end product into the box, which the Egyptian done on multiplel occasions yesterday afternoon.

Hassan was a constant threat, and a real thorn in the side of John McGlynn’s side, as he gave the Bairns defenders a torrid time, looking to attack each and every time he was on the ball, and his direct play was a like a breath of fresh to the home crowd.

Martin O’Neill had said that the 24 year old possessed a ‘dying art’ following his £9 million signing from Real Oviedo in regard to his entertaining style on the flanks, a nod to the wide man of yesteryear, and the Egyptian duly delivered with a direct and eye catching display.

We saw for ourselves, the talent that the Paris born attacker possessed in the recent World Cup when he tormented then world champions Argentina, and so nearly helped his country cause one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history.

That performance made the footballing world take notice of the 24 year old, but it was Celtic who won the race for his signature, and his signing was roundly praised by the Celtic supporters.

Yesterday we got to see that ability close up, and we certainly weren’t disappointed.

Hassan is a player of tremendous ability, he’s an entertainer with the potential to be even better. Of course it’s only early days, but Haissem Hassan looks like he will become a real favourite of the Celtic support.
