Milan and Roma received a significant boost with reports that Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli has no intention of joining Galatasaray, as this helps two different scenarios.

There had been suggestions yesterday that an offer had been submitted by Galatasaray for the Brazilian at around €45m.

However, The Athletic reporter David Ornstein exclusively revealed this afternoon via Martinelli’s entourage that the player has no intention of coming to the Turkish champions.

This represents a double boost for two Italian clubs on the transfer market.

Why Roma and Milan watching Martinelli

With negotiations for FC Porto talent Rodrigo Mora on the verge of collapse due to a disagreement over permanent purchase obligations in that €50m transfer, it means Roma could turn their focus towards Martinelli instead.

Oddly enough, this is a swap of transfer targets, because Portuguese media also reported Galatasaray were back in action for Mora.

At the same time, it would’ve been a problem for Milan if Galatasaray had managed to sign Martinelli, as they are still hoping the Turkish side will take Rafael Leao off their hands.

With time running out before the transfer deadline, the Rossoneri have seemingly agreed to lower their demands for Leao from the original €50m plus €10m add-ons to something more manageable.
