Former Celtic winger completes surprising latest MLS move

Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has completed another move in Major League Soccer after signing for Toronto FC.

The 29-year-old Scotland international has made the switch to Canada after previously representing Inter Miami, New York Red Bulls and San Diego FC during his six years in North America.

Morgan joined Celtic from St Mirren in 2018 and made 31 appearances for the Hoops, scoring twice, while also spending time on loan at Sunderland before leaving Parkhead permanently for Inter Miami in 2020.

Toronto FC general manager Jason Hernandez said: “We are happy to add Lewis at this time. He has established himself as an impactful attacker in the Eastern Conference over several seasons.

“His flexibility to play across multiple positions in the attack will be a valuable quality for our group moving forward.”

Morgan has earned seven caps for Scotland and was included in Steve Clarke’s squad for Euro 2024, making a late substitute appearance against Hungary.

His most recent international appearance came later that year in Scotland’s goalless Nations League draw against Portugal.

The former Celtic man will now continue his career with Toronto as he prepares for a fourth spell with an MLS club.
