Feyenoord have agreed a deal with Florian Kastenmeier, FR12.nl reported on Tuesday. The 30-year-old goalkeeper is joining the Rotterdam club on a free transfer and is expected to be presented at De Kuip soon.

Feyenoord had tracked Kastenmeier for some time as they looked to bring in competition for first-choice Tjark Ernst. The club also hope to tap into his experience.

Over the past seven years, Kastenmeier played no fewer than 228 official matches for Fortuna Düsseldorf before leaving on a free transfer on 1 July. Across his whole career, the goalkeeper has featured 359 times.

Most of those appearances came in the 2. Bundesliga, where Feyenoord's new goalkeeper made 194 outings. He also has seventeen Bundesliga appearances and fifteen in the DFB-Pokal.

Standing 1.90 metres tall, the goalkeeper kept 55 clean sheets but also conceded 320 goals.

Last season, Kastenmeier was Fortuna Düsseldorf's first-choice goalkeeper. He could not stop the club being relegated to Germany's third tier.

Hertha BSC also wanted Kastenmeier, but he has chosen Feyenoord instead. He could make his first matchday squad on Saturday for the away game against NEC.
