Italy have already beaten Turkey this international break: Winning 4-1 away from home in what was Roberto Mancini’s second match of his second spell in the Azzurri dugout, and the first victory of his second stint. That match was preceded by a 2-0 defeat at home against Belgium and was followed by an encouraging 1-1 draw away against France on Friday night.
As these are competitive Nations League fixtures, Mancini has had to whittle his selections down to a matchday squad of 23.
There have been a few alterations to the squad that drew away against France a few days ago: Moise Kean has left the camp through injury, whilst Samuele Ricci and Mohamed Ali Zoma have also been left out of the matchday squad to face Turkey. Samuele Inacio, Alessandro Romano and Nicolo Cambiaghi have been called up in their places.
With Kean dropping out, the no.9 shirt has been left vacant and has been inherited by Inter striker Esposito, who had previously worn the no.7 this international break. The no.7 shirt has in turn gone to Cambiaghi. Romano has taken the no.4 shirt that was assigned to Ricci for the France match.
