England’s most-capped players: Harry Kane poised to equal record
Harry Kane will equal Peter Shilton’s record of 125 England men’s appearances if he features against Czechia in tonight’s Nations League match at Wembley.
The England captain, currently on 124 caps, is one appearance away from matching a record Shilton has held since his final international outing at the 1990 World Cup.
The milestone would add to a remarkable international career for the 33-year-old, who is already England men’s all-time leading scorer with 89 goals. Kane overtook Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 53 in March 2023 and has continued to extend his lead.
Kane won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup and finished as joint-top scorer at Euro 2024. This summer, he also surpassed Gary Lineker as England’s leading scorer at men’s World Cup finals, taking his tally to 14 goals.
"You will not get another Harry Kane, first of all," Thomas Tuchel said about the England captain this week.
"He is the first one to push everyone and that is his mindset and he became a very, very hardworking forward on top of his finishing skills. He is a complete package."
