Will the sensational deal go through?

A Saudi giant have opened direct talks to sign England's Harry Kane from Bayern Munich this window, a deal that would rank among the most startling of the mercato.

English network "TEAMt\alk" revealed that Al-Hilal have held talks with Kane's representatives in a bid to lure the England captain to the Saudi Pro League. The club have placed him top of their list to bolster the attack.

Charlie Kane, the player's brother and chief agent, met Simon Francis over the weekend. Al-Hilal's technical football director is currently in England, working through the list of strikers the Saudi club are chasing.

Al-Hilal want to rebuild their attack. They have already signed Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United and are hunting another winger and a new striker.

Kane sits at the top of that striker list, alongside a handful of other options. On the wing, the club are weighing up moves for the likes of Savinho and Pedro Neto.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, want to keep their English striker. His contract runs into its final year and the German club are pushing to extend it by three years, tying him down until June 2029.

Several changes are coming to Al-Hilal's attack. Karim Benzema could leave, while Darwin Nunez is closing in on a loan move to Trabzonspor.
