Diego Moreira has insisted he will play wherever Ruben Amorim wants him to play after his brace against Lazio earned AC Milan a draw.

Milan found themselves in a horrible position at the break after Mattia Zaccagni and Tijjani Noslin scored to put Lazio two goals up, and in truth it was no more than their pressure had deserved after a very lacklustre first half performance from Amorim’s men.

He made changes at the break and one of them paid off in a big way. Moreira came on at left wing-back and he scored with a sensational volley and a sweet first-time strike inside three minutes to draw the Rossoneri level, which is what it would remain.

After the final whistle there was only one man to speak to: Diego Moreira was interviewed pitchside by DAZN and he gave his thoughts on a rollercoaster night. MilanNews relayed his words.

Is this the first brace of your career?

“Yes, I’m very happy with my first two goals. But as I said, I would have been happier if we had won in the end. But I’m very happy. I think we played a great second half and deserved more.”

In Turin, you seemed shy: were you more confident today? Do you feel more comfortable on the left?

“No, I wouldn’t say shy. I think it was a fitting introduction to the Italian league, and it was against a great team. The coach asked me to do something different. Today I played on the left.

“As I said, I can play on both flanks, and for me it’s the same thing. Today the coach made a great choice in putting me on the left, so we’ll see where I play in the next match.”
