Dejan Joveljic just did something no Seattle Sounders player had done in 17 years
A few days ago, the Seattle Sounders completed the signing of Dejan Joveljić from Sporting Kansas in an unusual move for the other party.
I know it was a good offer, but if you don't bring in a player in return, no matter how financially beneficial the deal may be, Sporting KC should have prioritized the sporting side.
It's true that there's still some time left in the transfer window, but the Sounders were the winners of this deal. On his debut as a Sounder, Joveljić scored two goals in the tie against the Chicago Fire.
With this outstanding debut, the striker matched an MLS milestone previously reached by only one other player in Seattle Sounders history.

As I mentioned earlier, if Sporting Kansas City doesn't make any moves before the transfer window closes, they're in serious trouble, as they let go of their star striker while sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Sounders are already reaping the rewards of their investment, earning a draw against the Fire last Saturday thanks to two goals from their star signing.
Now, according to the MLS official website, after his two goals, Dejan Joveljic joined a prestigious group in the Sounders' history:
“With his two goals in the Seattle Sounders' 2-2 draw against Chicago Fire FC, Dejan Joveljić became the first player since Fredy Montero on March 19, 2009, to score multiple goals in his Sounders debut.”
This achievement demonstrates that the Sounders' $6 million investment is already paying off for a team eager to turn its season around and reenter the playoff race.
No one really knows what's going on with the Sounders this season after they won that final against Inter Miami. Sitting in 12th place, the team is slowly starting to turn things around.
However, the arrival of a prolific striker like the former Sporting KC forward will be a huge help for a team that needs to be more clinical in front of goal.
Joveljić already delivered strong performances at his former club, so who's to say he can't take his game to another level and even become a key piece for a Sounders team decimated by injuries?
The reality is that the Sounders need all the help they can get to reverse this unusual situation. So yes, the deal was a good move by the Seattle Sounders.
