CorSport: Chances coming for Milan’s youngsters as intense schedule awaits
Ruben Amorim has not put too much in a few of the younger players in the squad so far, but that could change in the coming weeks.
Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) write that over the summer, there was no shortage of offers for many young Milan players, but Amorim believes in them and wanted to keep some of them in the squad.
Goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani is one, who had a great pre-season. Centre-backs Valeri Vladimirov and Sankhoun Diawara – the latter signed in the summer from Troyes – are part of the young cohort. Then, there is midfielder Christian Comotto, plus forwards Francesco Camarda and Alphadjo Cisse.
Aside from the latter, who has found plenty of playing time and has already scored two goals, the others have barely seen the pitch at the start of the season, but their turn will soon come.
Chance for youth incoming
Until now, Amorim has relied primarily on more experienced players, but after the break Milan will play every three or four days until the November international break. This means there will also be more opportunities for younger players.
Comotto, for example, will be included in the midfield rotation and could make his season debut in the upcoming Serie A and Europa League matches. The young midfielder renewed his contract this summer because Milan and Amorim strongly believe in him, even though he is only 18 years old.
Another player who will certainly find space is Camarda, who is the first and only alternative in the squad to Gonçalo Ramos, who obviously won’t be able to start every game and play full 90s as he has been so far.
With the Cristiano Ronaldo situation having erupted in Portugal, the former PSG striker could appear in both of the Portuguese national team’s remaining games and could therefore return to Milanello feeling tired.
If that’s the case, who knows, Camarda might be the one to lead the Rossoneri attack after the restart against Sassuolo. The other youngsters will also have their chances, particularly Diawara, who will be there to give Strahinja Pavlovic a rest.
