Colombian media react to Camilo Duran’s stunning Celtic start as international talk emerges
The winger produced two brilliant finishes in Celtic’s 3-0 Champions League play-off victory over LASK, continuing an outstanding opening few weeks in Glasgow.
Duran’s performance quickly attracted attention in the Colombian media, where the reaction extended beyond his goals at Celtic Park.
Publimetro hailed the 22-year-old’s finishing and suggested his performances in Europe could soon force him into the Colombia national team conversation.
The report stated: “Camilo Durán impressed with two stunning left-footed strikes, making it clear he intends to seize every minute he gets in Europe. If he maintains this level, it wouldn’t be surprising if his name starts to gain traction among Colombian footballers looking to break into the continent’s top leagues.”
Publimetro also suggested Duran could develop into one of the leading candidates to break into the Colombia squad if his form continues.
El Universal instead focused on a promise Duran made after completing his move to Celtic.
It said: “The man from Santa Marta had already opened his official goalscoring account with Celtic last weekend against Dundee United and now he appears again on the stage he knows best.
“Durán had assured after signing for the club that one of his main objectives was to continue scoring in the Champions League, and against LASK he began to fulfill that promise with a great goal that quickly became one of the images of the day.”
Meanwhile, El Heraldo highlighted the remarkable numbers behind his immediate impact in Scotland.
The report said: “The attacker born in Santa Marta is ‘on fire’: six goals and two assists in his first seven games with Celtic, an offensive production that explains why he has quickly become one of the team’s main assets.”
