Colby Donovan gives new Scotland boss plenty to ponder during Celtic Park visit
The Belgian was spotted arriving at Celtic Park just three days after being confirmed as Steve Clarke’s successor, with several potential Scotland players on show.
Scottish Sun Sport shared an image of Pocognoli arriving at the stadium, writing: “New Scotland boss Sebastien Pocognoli arrives to take in Celtic v LASK.”
Kieran Tierney was an obvious player of interest after starting at left-back, while Anthony Ralston was named among Martin O’Neill’s substitutes.
Both were members of Scotland’s World Cup squad, but it was young Celtic defender Colby Donovan who may have given Pocognoli the most to think about.
The 19-year-old has already represented Scotland at Under-21 level and has been handed increased responsibility at Celtic following Alistair Johnston’s injury.
Donovan was trusted with another Champions League start against LASK and produced an outstanding performance as Celtic secured a commanding 3-0 victory.
Pocognoli has already admitted he is “doing a lot of research, asking a lot of questions” as he gets to grips with his new role.
His visit to Celtic Park was an early example of that homework, and Donovan could hardly have picked a better night to impress the new national team boss.
