CM: Milan initiate contacts over €20m-rated Red Star sensation – the details
AC Milan are the latest club to show an interest in signing Red Star sensation Vasilije Kostov, according to a report.
Kostov is Red Star’s latest gem. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has been a starter for a year and a half at one of Eastern Europe’s top clubs. Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have been pursuing him for some time, while Inter negotiated too without making a decisive move.
Contacts underway
Kostov has started this season well, scoring three goals in as many games in the Serbian first division. His agent is Nikola Kolarov, brother of Alexander Kolarov and assistant to Cristian Chivu. Milan have been in contact with him for several months.
The management are rnquiring about the price and possible developments, and they have learned that €20m is Red Star’s starting price. However, given that he scored 14 goals in all competitions last season as a teenager, it could be worth the investment and could even rise.
Kostov is considered the best Serbian talent on the horizon. He played several games as a central midfielder for the Red Star Belgrade first team, exploiting his ability to penetrate the opposition penalty area with runs.
However, he was born as an attacking midfielder and has found his comfort zone in the playmaker positions. Milan have been following him for a year and will resolve any remaining doubts in the coming months to advance the negotiations with Red Star.
The Rossoneri’s scouts are clearly active in the Serbian league, as seen by the signing of Andrej Kostic from Partizan Belgrade, and prior to that Marko Lazetic who was at Red Star.
