Pervis Estupinan isn’t the most popular figure at AC Milan, but him being out for any period would present a challenge to Ruben Amorim.

It’s fair to suggest that Estupinan wouldn’t be in many fans’ ideal XI for Milan this season. However, he’s still valuable to Amorim, as seen by the fact that he’s already played almost 300 minutes in five games this season.

His usage could well change after the international break, with suggestions that the Portuguese will switch to a four-back formation. Nevertheless, that change could also keep him in the team in a less contested role. It’s fair to say that we don’t fully know the plan yet.

Nothing to worry about with Estupinan

In the past few days, there have been suggestions that Estupinan could be missing for a while, with reports of a knee injury suffered during the international break. However, the Ecuadorian Football Federation have provided a welcome statement about his condition, as MilanNews relays.

“Pervis Estupinan suffered a knee injury during the match against Japan. Tests revealed a knee sprain with an internal lesion. The medical information and test results have already been communicated to the AC Milan medical staff to ensure continuity of care. We wish Pervis a speedy recovery.”

Words from Marcelo Gallardo were also provided, with the coach stating that it was a ‘slight sprain’ and that there was ‘nothing to worry about’.
