Chelsea’s £280m summer rebuild leaves Alonso with a new squad
Chelsea’s summer transfer window has officially closed with 46 confirmed ins and outs, more than £280m spent on incomings and over £460m banked in sales and loan fees, though three deals were still awaiting confirmation.

Bobby Vincent, senior Chelsea reporter for football.london, published the full audit at 23:00 on 1 September 2026, updated three minutes later once deadline day business was done. football.london says it rounded up everyone who signed and departed the club across the window, with the more-than-£460m sales figure – including loan fees – described as its own calculation.
That’s a genuinely staggering net position for one summer, even by Chelsea’s recent standards. Xabi Alonso got his squad, and the club got paid handsomely for the players who made way.
The arrivals: Rogers headlines a varied intake
Morgan Rogers arrived from Aston Villa for a club-record £117m, the marquee statement of the window. Maxence Lacroix (Crystal Palace, £52m total) and Marco Palestra (Atalanta, £47m package) followed as the next-biggest outlays, with Geovany Quenda’s Sporting CP move reported at around £40m.
Elsewhere, Pep Chavarria joined from Rayo Vallecano for £16.2m plus add-ons, Emiliano Martinez arrived from Aston Villa for £7.5m, and Dastan Satpayev completed a £3.4m package move from Shakhtar Donetsk. Jordan Henderson signed on a free transfer after a gentleman’s agreement with Brentford, while Danny Welbeck’s move from Brighton was for an undisclosed fee sources called minimal. Valentin Barco and Emmanuel Emegha both arrived on undisclosed terms.
The outgoings: sales, loans and sister-club moves
The departures list is where the numbers really stack up. Nicolas Jackson’s move to Aston Villa was worth £65m in total, Andrey Santos’s switch to Manchester United could reach £50m, and Liam Delap’s exit to Nottingham Forest was also a £50m package.
Marc Cucurella’s Real Madrid deal could rise to £51.8m, while Alejandro Garnacho’s loan-to-obligation move to Aston Villa carries a £42.5m buy clause the source says has straightforward triggers. Trevoh Chalobah’s £25m Como deal, Tyrique George’s £18m (rising to £24m) Everton switch and Marc Guiu’s £14.6m RB Leipzig sale all added up. Benoit Badiashile went to Napoli on loan for £2.5m with a £23m option, and Robert Sanchez departed for Como on loan once Martinez arrived as the new No.1. Academy and fringe talent – including Dastan Satpayev to Burnley, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, Caleb Wiley and several sister-club Strasbourg loans – rounded out a huge outgoing operation. What’s still to be confirmed
Not everything is fully signed off. football.london’s disclaimer flags three deals still pending official confirmation: Lamine Camara’s reported £47m agreement to join Chelsea, and loan moves to Celtic for both Landon Emenalo and Shim Mheuka. All three are expected to go through and will be updated once confirmed.
