Monday’s reports claim that Premier League side Chelsea have opened discussions with the representatives of Roma midfielder Manu Kone in the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window.

Report: Chelsea interested in late deal for Roma’s Kone

The summer transfer window will close on September 1, but there is still plenty of business to be done in Serie A, both in terms of incomings and potential departures.

Roma’s Kone is a player who attracted plenty of attention earlier this summer following his impressive performances with the France national team at the 2026 World Cup and amidst reports that the Giallorossi may need to sell players in order to help with their financial fair play situation.

There had been reports that Manchester United were interested in the Frenchman before secring deals for Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba. More recently, Manchester City and Real Madrid have shown an interest, but have not submitted any formal offers.

Now, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have also put Kone on their list of potential midfield recruitments in the final days of the summer transfer window. He claims that Chelsea have been in contact with the player’s agent and that Kone is one of two midfielders under consideration at Stamford Bridge along with Monaco’s Lamine Camara.

Roma maintain their stance that they do not wish to lose Kone, least of all at this stage of the summer. They have not yet received any formal proposals for the 25-year-old.

The Giallorossi reportedly value Kone in the region of €60m.
