Celtic youngster chooses Arbroath despite several loan options
The 20-year-old midfielder is poised for another spell in the Scottish Championship after gaining valuable first-team experience with Ayr United last season.
Bonnar made 21 appearances in the second tier and featured 30 times across all competitions during his time at Somerset Park, earning praise from former Celtic captain and then-Ayr boss Scott Brown.
Now, another opportunity for regular senior football awaits at Gayfield.
According to the Daily Record, Bonnar has been training with Arbroath this week and is expected to complete a loan move for the remainder of the season.
The Celtic youngster reportedly had several options available to him but opted for Arbroath after being impressed by the club’s management team of David Gold and Colin Hamilton.
There is hope that the deal can be completed in time for Bonnar to be involved in Saturday’s Championship encounter with Morton.
