The 18-year-old was at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training complex last month as the Hoops explored a move for the highly-rated Chelsea prospect.

However, the proposed switch was delayed after Emenalo suffered a knock while training with the Stamford Bridge club, putting the deal temporarily on hold.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic have now revived the move and are working to complete the final paperwork, with all parties hopeful an agreement can be reached tonight.

Chelsea are understood to have given Emenalo time to recover from his injury before allowing the transfer to progress.

The deal is expected to be a straight season-long loan, with no option or obligation for Celtic to make the move permanent included in the agreement.

Left-back has been one of the Hoops’ priority positions throughout the summer following Marcelo Saracchi’s departure.

The need for reinforcements has become even more pressing with Kieran Tierney currently sidelined, leaving O’Neill without another natural senior option in the position.
