Celtic midfielder now set to join EFL club on loan deal

Celtic are set to send one of their young player out on loan to the EFL, with Kyle Ure set to join Crewe Alexandra. Ure is now in the final year of his Celtic contract having signed a new two-year deal last summer.

The midfielder spent last season on loan ay Ayr United, spending time working under Celtic hero Scott Brown, making 17 league appearances. Ure has largely been a Celtic B player, but he did feature for the first team in pre-season.

The Celtic Way now report Ure will join Crewe on a season-long loan, and that will take him up to the end of his current deal. Ure is going to have to have a very good season at Crewe to win a new deal, now 20 years of age, but at the very least, he will have a chance to impress down South and try to win a deal somewhere, even if it's not at Parkhead.

Ure spoke highly of his loan experience last season, saying: “It was a massive experience; it’s one that I’ll forever be grateful for.

“It was probably a big driving factor, and the reason that I chose to go to Ayr. I think a big part of it was working under Scott Brown and all his coaches over there, so it was a really good learning experience for me.

“Because he knew so much about what this club was like, it was the ideal person to go and learn from. Similar position as well, I’ve said it before, I probably couldn’t have picked a better person.

“He played near enough the exact same position as me, and to just go and learn small details about the difference, like the ugly side of the game, if you want to call it that, that not many people realise, is a big learning experience for me.”

Ure will now test himself in League Two.
