The Hoops confirmed German midfielder Mika Baur as their fourth summer signing today, following the arrival of Egypt winger Haissem Hassan.

Martin O’Neill has already strengthened his attacking options with Camilo Duran and club-record £11million striker Kasper Hogh, but Celtic appear to be exploring further additions.

According to Czech outlet inFotbal.cz, Slovan Liberec attacking midfielder Mahmic is now attracting interest from the Scottish champions.

The 21-year-old impressed for Bosnia and Herzegovina at this summer’s World Cup, scoring twice to become his country’s highest-ever scorer at the tournament.

Mahmic, who already has five senior international caps, joined Slovan Liberec from Austrian side SV Lafnitz last summer and scored eight goals across all competitions during his first season in the Czech Republic.

The report claims Celtic have already made contact with Slovan to establish the conditions required to complete a deal and are now awaiting further details.

The Hoops are believed to have alternative options on their shortlist for the position, although the Celtic route is described as having been the “hottest” over the past fortnight.

Turkish giants Besiktas have also been linked with Mahmic, although that move is reportedly considered unrealistic at this stage.

Slovan Liberec are thought to value the Bosnia international at around £6million to £7m.

With Baur and Hassan now through the door, Celtic’s reported interest in Mahmic suggests their ambitious summer recruitment drive may not be finished yet.
