Celtic in for French midfielder Cheick Souare
With the end of the transfer window looming, Celtic have been linked with numerous players, especially midfielders in the light of Arne Engels’ £25 million move to West Ham United…
Names such as Torino’s Gvidas Gineitis, Hajduk Split’s Niko Sigur, and Hibs star Miguel Chaiwa have been mentioned on more than a few occasions, and now today a new name was thrown into the mix in French midfielder Cheick Souare.
23 year old Souare who plays for Viktoria Plzen has been name checked by an Italian journalist, who claims Celtic are interested in the former French youth international, as well as Italian and Spanish clubs.
So Celtic certainly have a fight on their hands if they are indeed interested in the dynamic midfielder.
Lorenzo Lepore reports that Celtic are involved in the race for Souare, who can operate anywhere across the midfield as well as act as a winger, but face competition from sides such as Italian duo Genoa and Monza, as well as Spanish side Getafe, with the latter said to have had a €2.5 million offer rebuffed by Plzen who are said to looking for an offer in the region of €3.5 – €4 million for the player.
Souare who was previously on the books of Marseille has 20 goal contributions in 69 games for Plzen, and is out of contract next year, but it remains to be seen if the Hoops will put an offer in for the player in the coming days.
Celtic clearly are certainly hunting high and low for a new recruit to add to a midfield low on numbers due to the sale of Arne Engels, and with Reo Hatate also making his intentions clear of leaving, then it’s highly evident that we are badly in need of fresh recruits.
Will Soure be one of them? Time will tell…
