Celtic are reportedly interested in signing versatile Canadian midfielder Niko Sigur. The Scottish Champions are set to sign Mika Baur from Paderborn as they look to rejuvenate their midfield but they could also add 22-year-old Sigur to their ranks.

According to Scott Burns in Record Sport, Celtic are expected to open talks with Hajduk Split in the coming days over a deal to sign Sigur. The report states that Celtic will require to make a significant seven figure bid to engage the Croatian club in talks over Sigur.

Reports earlier this summer suggested that Sigur could be available for as little as £2.5m but the interest may lead to Split demanding a higher fee for the player, especially as they look to finance a rebuild themselves.

Sigur can play right back as well as defensive midfield and would bring steel to the Celtic midfield as well as versatility. Sigur has made 114 appearances for Hadjuk, scoring and assisting five times apiece.

Celtic have also been linked with Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis. The Romanian Internationalist is said to be available at £9m as Celtic plan for life after Arne Engels, who is expected to depart for English football this summer in a £25m+ deal. West Ham are reportedly set to return to the table with a third bid and that could mean that the Belgian International departs.
