Celtic closing in on 19-year-old PSV talent with medical expected today

Celtic are closing in on the signing of PSV Eindhoven youngster Joel van den Berg, with the midfielder reportedly set to undergo a medical today.

The 19-year-old is poised to make the move to Glasgow after Celtic reached a broad agreement with the Dutch giants over a multi-million pound transfer.

Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink reports that negotiations progressed late last week and Van den Berg is now expected to complete his medical ahead of finalising the switch.

The Netherlands youth international has been playing his football for Jong PSV, the Eindhoven club’s under-23 side, in the Dutch second tier.

Van den Berg is expected to put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Celtic Park running until 2030.

His arrival would provide Martin O’Neill with another midfield option as Celtic look to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.
