Camilo Duran has certainly impressed during his short time at Celtic, with his overall attitude and goalscoring ability, and clearly the £5.5 million summer signings outstanding form hasn’t gone unnoticed…

Camilo Duran has been rewarded for his sparkling form by being named by the SPFL as the Scottish Premiership’s Player of the Month for August, plus he has earned a place in Colombia’s preliminary squad for upcoming friendlies against Mexico, Paraguay and Peru in the United States.

The Colombian spoke of his delight at winning the Player of the Month award, despite being at the club for just a short period of time, as well as his first call up to the Colombian senior squad, albeit the preliminary one.

He said at his media conference yesterday: “I’m really happy to win the award, especially having not been here for too long and happy to help my teammates.

“I came here and my objectives were to win titles and to hopefully represent the Colombian national team, and if I keep performing the way I do, then I know I’ll be closer to that.”

The 24 year old also revealed that he doesn’t have an specific goal target in mind, saying he’s just taking everything in his stride, and credits his teammates and the Celtic coaching staff for his early success.

The former Qarabag man said at Friday’s mainstream media conference: “I don’t have a number. I just take it day by day and game by game. But I know if I keep working the way I am, that many more goals are coming.

“They received me very well right from the start. We’re good teammates, we help each other out. But not only the players, also the staff and the manager have really helped me,” Camilo said.

Camilo is not only a superb footballer, but a very modest lad also. If he continues in this rich vein of form, then we will have a very serious player on our hands, with some supporters already prepared to say that he’s going to be the best striker we’ve had since Henrik Larsson.

If Kasper Hogh can be the best front man since Chris Sutton then Martin O’Neill will have quite a double act up top in his Celtic team this season!

Here’s Camilo Duran speaking to the Mainstream Media yesterday afternoon…
