The high-stakes transfer saga betweenLiverpool and Paris Saint-Germain regarding Bradley Barcola continues to dominate headlines as the summer transfer window enters its crucial final few weeks.

Although initial reports from French media outlet Le Parisien highlighted a significant gap in player valuation with PSG demanding an eye-watering figure between €160m–€170m (£140m–£145m) recent developments indicate the situation remains fluid and highly dynamic.

The 23-year-old French international winger has reportedly indicated his desire for a move to Anfield after opting against signing a contract extension at the Parc des Princes.

While there appears to be a gulf in valuation between both clubs, Le Parisien reports that Barcola has chosen Liverpool and that his departure is ‘imminent’.

The French winger was an unused substitute as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday.

When asked about Barcola’s future, PSG chairman Naser Al-Khelaifi expressed uncertainty but affirmed that he is still a PSG player.

The Reds face Newcastle on 23 August for their Premier League opener and will want their primary target in a Liverpool shirt before their new campaign begins.

PSG close in on Ferran Torres as winger dominoes fall

The two-time European champions have been busy this transfer window, as Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani and Kang-in Lee have all departed the club.

They have since strengthened their forward department with the signing of Magnes Akliouche from AS Monaco, who was in their starting lineup against Villa.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that the Parisian club are close to an agreement with FC Barcelona for Ferran Torres, who scored Spain’s winning goal in the World Cup final against Argentina.

Furthermore, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that Ajax winger Mika Godts will be heading to PSG on a €55 million deal.

These signings should place PSG in a better position to facilitate Barcola’s transfer to the Merseyside club.

Liverpool face Como 1907 on Sunday in their final pre-season friendly at 6 pm GMT, while an additional game will take place behind closed doors at 11.30 am GMT on the same day.
