Bojan Miovski transfer update as Rangers exit looms with Feyenoord interest revived
Out of favour forward Bojan Miovski is now expected to be allowed to leave Rangers on loan when Kevin Kelsy's move to Ibrox is finalised, with Feyenoord making an initial enquiry about the striker.
The North Macedonia international was left out of Rangers' squad for Sunday's 1-0 win over his former side Aberdeen as his position in Derek McInnes' squad continues to come under scrutiny.
The Rangers Review report that Feyenoord, now managed by former Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, made an initial enquiry about Miovski on Monday.
It gives the 27-year-old another potential route out of Ibrox, with interest also emerging from Turkey in recent days.
Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi have reportedly placed Miovski on their list of striker targetsF, alongside ex-Celtic attacker Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Başaksehir's Nuno Da Costa.
The situation could become clearer once Rangers complete the signing of Kelsy from Portland Timbers.
The Venezuelan striker is expected to arrive for a fee of around £9.5 million, with the Rangers Review reporting his medical as completed, his arrival would further reduce Miovski's prospects of regular first-team football.
Miovski has struggled for a consistent role since joining Rangers from Girona last summer, despite arriving with an impressive record from his previous spell in Scottish football with Aberdeen.
He scored 44 goals during two seasons at Pittodrie before earning his move to Girona and subsequently Rangers.
The arrival of Lawrence Shankland and the preference for Ryan Naderi has seen Miovski drop down the pecking order despite Youssef Chermiti’s ACL injury.
A loan departure would therefore allow the striker to get regular football elsewhere while Rangers reduce the size of their squad.
Feyenoord link dates back to Aberdeen days
The latest Feyenoord enquiry is particularly interesting given that Miovski was linked with the Dutch club during his Aberdeen spell.
A 2024 report from the Daily Record previously claimed Feyenoord were interested in signing Miovski after his impressive form for Aberdeen.
That earlier interest came before the striker moved to Girona, meaning Van Bronckhorst's current enquiry could represent a revival of an interest that dates back to Miovski's first spell in Scottish football.
Van Bronckhorst also has his own Rangers connection, having managed the club between 2021 and 2022 before returning to Feyenoord as head coach this summer. Feyenoord officially confirmed his appointment in June.
That relationship could make the Dutch club an intriguing destination for Miovski if they decide to progress beyond their initial enquiry.
Turkey also an option
Feyenoord are not the only club to have shown interest.
As mentioned, Genclerbirligi have put Miovski on their agenda ahead of the final days of the Turkish transfer window, although the club are considering several attacking options.
A move to Turkey could therefore provide another solution should Rangers and the player decide that a temporary exit is the best option.
The striker's Rangers future could therefore be decided in the final days of the window, with a move away increasingly likely if Kelsy's transfer reaches completion.
